What is a PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP? It is a Government initiative for patients to have more involvement and choice in their healthcare. As a result of this initiative a network of Patient Participation Groups has been formed throughout the country.
The WHEATHAMPSTEAD PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP (WPPG) was started in April 2008 as a partnership between the patients and the doctors of the Village Surgery:
These are some of the objectives we have achieved in the past 5 years which we aim to increase. We have an active Committee comprising: Chairman, Treasurer, Events Secretary, Newsletter Editor (published 4 times annually), Minutes Secretary, a Dietician, two Nurses, two Village Surgery doctors and the support of the Manor Pharmacy.
The WPPG needs funding and Wheathampstead residents are invited to become Members at a cost of £5 per year per household. This small fee contributes to our administration costs.
Members are able to attend events, free of charge (non-members can attend but at a cost of £2.50 each). Application Forms for WPPG membership can be downloaded for completion under ‘JOINING’ and are also obtainable from the Village Surgery (next to the red WPPG box on the wall outside the Nurse’s room). There is a WPPG Noticeboard next to the red box and forms are available in a pouch on the right-hand side of this Noticeboard. Complete the WPPG Membership form, adding £5, and ‘post’ in the red box. If convenient, it would be appreciated if annual payment could be by Standing Order (complete the right-hand side of the Membership form and post in the red box).
